#UO15 Contest Rules

Hello friends, I am planning a contest to celebrate the Ultima Online 15th Anniversary. #UO15

Update: Ultima Auctions has kicked in 10million gold bringing the prize total to 20 million.

This contest will be an Internet scavenger hunt and the winner will be determined by a trivia quiz at the end of the contest. A prize will be paid in-game in UO gold to the winner.

Here’s how it works:

  • The trivia contest is based on Changes in the Land. A story about Lord Raven’s return to Sosaria
  • Screen captures of the adventures of Raven and his friends will be uploaded to the Digital Memories of Ultima Online Gallery.
    • These pictures will be uploaded to the galleries of specific characters in the story tagged with the #UO15 hashtag.
  • The story chapters and uploaded images will contain the answers to the trivia questionnaire.
  • As the storyline progresses I may Tweet clues to potential trivia questions that will come at the end of the contest.
  • I will post the trivia questions as (PDF) so folks can start hunting for the answers.
  • On Friday 10/5/2012 I will unlock the trivia question answer form. Contest participants will have a week to search for the answers.
  • On Sunday 10/14/2012 I’ll lock the trivia answer forum, check the responses and award the prize.

Here’s how the trivia quiz will work:

  • All answers will be readily available in content I will post as part of the contest.
  • The trivia questions will be posted in a PDF file you can print and use as a scratch sheet while you hunt for answers.
  • The questions will not be about arcane UO trivia, all questions will be drawn from the story I write, or images I upload as part of the contest.
  • There is no in-game component to this contest so you don’t have to have characters on Atlantic to participate.
  • Trivia answers may appear in text or images in the story Changes in the Land or the DMUO website.

How the prize money will be awarded:

  • The total prize payout is 20 million in Ultima Online gold paid to a single winner.
  • When a trivia questionnaire is completed, the date/time is recorded. In the event of a tie, the prize will be awarded to the winning player that completed the questionnaire first.
  • The contest rules may be changed or updated as the contest progresses. I will announce updates to these rules via Twitter @ravenofminoc
  • This contest is only open to Ultima Online players with active accounts. All prize awards are subject to account verification by a method of my choosing.
  • The prize will only be awarded to the character name you enter in the questionnaire – If you enter the contest as “Bob the Archer” don’t send “Nancy the Alchemist” to collect the gold.
  • Details matter, misspelled answers are wrong answers. If it gets down to a close contest between several contestants I’m not going to guess what you were trying to write.
  • Thanks to the folks at Ultima Auctions prize payment can be made to winners on the following shards:
    • Atlantic, Baja, Catskills, Chesapeake, Drachenfels, Europa, Great Lakes, Lake Austin, Napa Valley, Oceania, Sonoma

I have updated the DMUO website with an account creation tutorial and information on this contest. You do not need to set up an account to qualify for the contest, but it would be nice if you did and shared your Ultima Online pics.
